It is recommended that you book your tickets as early as possible as prices increase rapidly after March.
Airlines serving Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) are DELTA/KLM, UNITED/Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airlines, and Turkish Airlines.
Next Steps
STEP: Tanzania is currently not on the US State Department Travel Alert or Travel Warning List. All students are required to enroll in the US Department of State’s STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) prior to their travel, in case of emergency situations.
AMREF: All students are required to subscribe for membership in AMREF before leaving home. This is NOT included in the field costs. The membership is $16/month for a package that includes 2 air ambulance evacuations.
Immunizations: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide recommendations for travel to Tanzania. Consult your doctor to determine your immunization updates, discuss malaria prophylactics and other necessary prescriptions.
